Letters: Mark Sanford misses the point on Trump
The July 8 article, “Delegation is mixed on Trump’s meeting with Congress,” quotes Mark Sanford as saying, “I like very much what he (Trump) says, but I’m very concerned about the way he says it.”
I wonder what it is that Trump is saying that Rep. Sanford likes: that (virtually all) the Mexicans coming into the United States are murderers, rapists, criminals, etc.; that we should deport the 11 million illegals already in this country; that we should build a wall along the entire U.S.-Mexican border; that women getting abortions should be prosecuted. Or maybe one it’s of his other crackpot statements.
It’s what Trump says that matters, not how he says it. Virtually all he does is lob criticisms and insults at individuals and organizations.
One can count on one hand the number of Trump’s pronouncements that even remotely resemble serious positions on important issues, and all of them have holes so big you could drive Sanford’s ego through them.
