Letters: Obama has double standard on guns

Our president is the first to want to impose more gun laws on gun-owning citizens after an isolated incident concerning criminals or mentally deranged individuals, but he reduces sentences for criminals who were convicted of possessing a firearm as a felon, possessing a firearm with obliterated serial numbers and drug dealers.

How can dealing drugs that ruin numerous lives and families be considered nonviolent? I certainly wouldn't consider a felon with an illegal firearm to be a nonviolent individual. I have to wonder how many of these individuals will be repeat offenders or were already repeat offenders.
