Letters: Focus on reducing nuclear weapons
Our presidential candidates remain silent on one of the most consequential issues: nuclear weapons. In August 1945, the United States dropped nuclear weapons on Hiroshima and Nagasaki; today, our leaders must do everything they can to ensure that nuclear weapons are never used again.
I urge Sens. Lindsey Graham and Tim Scott and Rep. Joe Wilson to oppose the $1 trillion plan to modernize the U.S. nuclear arsenal which could start a new arms race.
It is time to say never again and work to reduce the possibility of nuclear warfare.
