Letters: We aren’t all heroes
A hero is a person who with complete disregard for his own life protects or saves others. Military personnel killed in action are casualties; some of them are heroes and are awarded the Bronze Star or Silver Star.
Having served 20 years in the U.S. Army as an infantry officer, with two tours of duty in South Vietnam, I am tired of our news media calling all soldiers heroes. Only a few deserve that title; the rest deserve a pat on the back and thanks for doing their job.
