Letters: The bully who would be emperor
The Republican Party has sold its soul to a charlatan. Donald Trump is an example of everything parents and teachers try to teach children not to be. He’s a bully and a liar and has no self-control. We’ve seen his platform of vile threats against all sorts of groups and individuals. He has lied about everything from his own graduating status at the University of Pennsylvania to the religious beliefs of his opponents.
Even when his claims are exposed as lies, he repeats them over and over. Apparently from childhood, he has never been able to control his anger, and he has not been able to follow any direction or suggestions from the campaign staff. And he cannot seem to communicate in logical, well-prepared speeches; Twitter is about all his attention span can handle.
He has even said he would order the military to commit war crimes. What makes anyone think he would obey the Constitution?
He would like to claim to be the modern Ronald Reagan, but nothing could be further from the truth. President Reagan tried to unite all factions, both in the political arena and in the country at large. Reagan almost never insulted his opponents, even privately.
Make no mistake: Donald Trump is positively not running to be president of the United States. He’s running to be emperor. And the emperor has, as the story says, no clothes.
