Letters: Change how we police our cities

It has been too much of a deadly year for our country and police departments in our major cities. There is enough blame to be shared among various organizations. We have seen a few white rogue policemen shoot black men unnecessarily, and we have seen black protesters encouraging their followers to shoot white policemen.

Our government hands out money to foreign countries like it is Christmas every day. Billions of dollars keep going to Iraq, Pakistan and Afghanistan even though their leaders keep stealing what they can.

Why can’t we keep some of that money to better fund our police departments? This would allow them to hire more policemen. Better yet, police departments in major cities could hire more African-American police to patrol the African-American communities, thus eliminating the problems created by white policemen patrolling those neighborhoods.
