Letters: Pastides should share latest raise

When the USC Board of Trustees voted to award a $100,000 raise to President Harris Pastides, what action, if any, did it take regarding hawk-killing trustee and lawyer Charles Williams?

Wasn’t Pastides one of 37 state agency heads who shared $215,000 in raises earlier this year? And now the board is approving an additional raise funded by the foundations?

It’s too bad that Pastides would not consider foregoing part of this largesse in consideration of USC’s many hard-working students who struggle to pay their ever-increasing tuition and fees. It’s foolish to think that higher administrative salaries like his do not contribute to higher costs for students.

As a citizen, a taxpayer and an undergraduate alumna of USC, I am troubled by it. The optics are terrible.
