Harbour Town Clubhouse opens in Sea Pines + video

Sea Pines Resort announced Thursday the opening of its new Harbour Town Clubhouse ahead of RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing Tournament Presented by Boeing.

The 26,000-square-foot clubhouse overlooks Pete Dye's Harbour Town Golf Links. It includes a gallery showcasing the history and past champions of RBC Heritage, a lounge, and the American grill Links with indoor and outdoor seating and views of the golf course.

The $25-million project also features a signature pro shop and retail display, wrap-around terraces with covered porches, a 4,000-square-foot locker room and the Heritage Room -- a 2,2,00-square-foot banquet and event room on the top floor.

The clubhouse interior presents an open layout with accents such as wood flooring made from reclaimed 18-inch white oak planks.

"The new Harbour Town Clubhouse combines the absolute best of architectural design, superior craftsmanship and functionality," said Sea Pines Resort President Steve Birdwell. "Every inch of the new building is intended to provide our members, guests and visiting golf pros a level of comfort and enjoyment they'll long savor."

The clubhouse is the third to open in Sea Pines in a year.

In September, the $12-million Sea Pines Beach Club opened beside Marriott's Monarch, featuring a beach-side restaurant and beach and rooftop bars.

One year ago Thursday, the resort opened the 23,000-square-foot Plantation Golf Club serving its Heron Point and Ocean courses. Next to the $17-million club, the resort also opened its Golf Learning Center.

The 47th RBC Heritage is April 13-19.
