Columbia among cities considered for Hornets’ D-league team
Columbia is one of several cities in the Carolinas being considered to host a developmental team paired with the Charlotte Hornets, according to an announcement made by Hornets Sports & Entertainment.
The organization intends to launch its own NBA D-League team for the 2016-2017 season, according to a release.
In addition to Columbia, South Carolina cities receiving the RFP include Charleston and Greenville. Cities in North Carolina include Asheville, Fayetteville, Greensboro and Raleigh.
Hornets Sports & Entertainment owns the Charlotte Hornets, which is a member of the NBA’s Southeast Division.
