Midlands wrestlers win SCISA individual championships

SCISA’s all-time wins leader added another championship to his career.

Heathwood Hall’s Reagan Olsen won the 145-pound championship at the SCISA individual wrestling championships Saturday at Hammond. It was Olsen’s third state individual title and he was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler for the tournament.

Olsen was one of five individual champions for Heathwood Hall. The others were Myles Roberts (126), Darius Bates (145), Mac Merritt (132) and AJ Kuse (138).

SCISA 3A champion Hammond had three individual champions — Sam Dubose (113), Drew Turner (170) and Owen Hales (182). Cardinal Newman also had three state title winners in Andrew Morrison (195), Dyllan Gorrin (120) and Declan Carroll (285). Ben Lippen’s Will Taylor (160) and JC Green (220) rounded out the title winners from Columbia-area schools.
