Clemson in top 5 for star defensive lineman’s brother
While recruiting rising defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence of Wake Forest, N.C., Clemson coaches took notice of his younger brother Devon, an up-and-coming running back. After rushing for 1,700 yards and 27 touchdowns last season. Devon Lawrence is now a much sought after prospect, just like his brother ways. And he has Clemson in his top five right now.
“I have a top five of LSU, UCLA, Clemson, Georgia and UNC,” Devon Lawrence said. “Clemson tells me they mainly want me at running back but they want to see me on defense. Wherever at DB, safety or corner, it don’t matter. As long as I get on the field, I ain’t tripping.”
Devon Lawrence has made visits to Clemson to see his brother and to see it for himself. He likes the Tigers and the idea of teaming up with his brother, but he plans to make his decision independent of the family connection.
“I’ve been there, my brother is there and I like it and it’s a good school but I’m just looking around to see what my other options are,” Devon said. “They are recruiting me a decent amount. Not too much, not too little. Coach Caldwell is in regular contact.”
Devon Lawrence said he did not take any visits in the spring and he plans to take visits to his top five this summer. He said North Carolina has been recruiting him the hardest of his favorites. He plans to make a November decision because he will be an early graduate.
