The Clemson coaching staff gave each player on the roster a goal for the offseason after the Tigers completed spring practice.

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney is eager to see which players accomplished their goal.

Some were asked to put on weight and get stronger, while others were told to get a better grasp of the playbook. Swinney will learn who accomplished what when the Tigers open fall camp next week.

“We have individual meetings and kind of lay out a plan for every player on the team for the summer and what we want them to try to improve on,” Swinney said Wednesday at a charity event in Greenville. “It’s always fun for me to see guys those first few days and kind of see, ‘OK, this kid has put the work in.’

Swinney received positive reports on how his players were performing during offseason workouts. Now he will learn if what he heard was true.

“The first thing I always look for the first few days is where we are conditioning wise and kind of get a gauge for that. I feel good about it. It’s not like we’re not around in the summer. We get good feedback on the mandatory workouts and attendance and all of that,” Swinney said. “I like to see where they are mentally, who’s got great retention from the spring, and then just looking for improvement from where we were.”
