Clemson lands top running back on signing day

He wasn’t Clemson’s first choice at running back for the 2018 class, that was Georgia signee Zamire White, but the Butler, Ga. product was a strong second on the list and Wednesday, Lyn-J Dixon (5-foot-10, 192) became the running back in Clemson’s 2018 class. He chose the Tigers over Oklahoma State.

Dixon did not sit around over the summer while Clemson waited on a decision from White. He committed to Tennessee but when that program began to unravel, e decommitted in October and opened the door for Clemson, and others, to make their run at him.

He took officials to Clemson and Oklahoma State, and canceled one to Louisville, and determined that Clemson would be the best fit for his career.

“The Clemson offense would be a good scheme because the offense they run is similar to what we run,” Dixon said.

He missed six games this season with torn ligaments in his ankle but did return for is Senior Night and the playoffs. He finished with 700 rushing yards. Dixon compared his skills to former NFL star Reggie Bush.

“I have nice feet and I show some power when I run,” Dixon said. “Put me in the slot and I can catch the ball.”

Dixon gives Clemson 14 signees for its 2018 class.
