Man who covered Clemson sports charged with sexual assault, burglary
The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested Traseith Vergie Williams of Seneca over the weekend on charges of first-degree burglary and first-degree criminal sexual assault.
Williams, a credentialed media member who covers Clemson, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 6 p.m. Saturday, according to a press release and arrest warrants released by the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office.
Williams is accused of entering a 21-year-old female victim’s home while she was asleep. When the victim awoke she found a man performing a sexual act on her, according to the release.
Williams produced videos and was a host for the Clemson GameDay Show. He is not affiliated with Clemson University and will not be credentialed by Clemson while charges are pending.
The Clemson GameDay Facebook page, as well as The Clemson GameDay website, were no longer active as of Wednesday evening.
Williams was being held on a $100,000 bond and will be required to wear an electronic monitoring device upon release.
