Clemson locks in (way in the) future matchup with Big 12 power
Clemson fans can go ahead and make a note to circle a few dates on their 2035 and 2036 calendars.
The Tigers have scheduled a home-and-home series with Big 12 power Oklahoma for nearly 15 years from now.
The Sooners will travel to Death Valley to face Clemson on Sept. 15, 2035, and Clemson will face the Sooners in Norman, Oklahoma on Sept. 13, 2036.
Clemson already has several matchups with national powers on its nonconference schedule, including Georgia, LSU and Notre Dame.
“This series against Oklahoma is yet another example of our longstanding commitment to adding another Power Five opponent to our schedule beyond our annual rivalry game with South Carolina,” Tigers Director of Athletics Dan Radakovich said. “We look forward to two of the sport’s premier programs facing one another in Death Valley in 2035 and in Norman in 2036.”
If the two teams do not meet in the postseason between now and 2035, that game will be the sixth meeting between the programs.
Oklahoma won the first two meetings, before the Tigers followed with wins in the next three. The most recent meeting came in the 2015 Orange Bowl with Clemson earning a 37-17 victory to advance to the national title game.
