From Clemson legend to Oakland Raiders: Hunter Renfrow drafted
Hunter Renfrow’s NFL career is set to begin, and he’s going to be playing with some familiar faces.
The Tigers receiver was selected Saturday by the Oakland Raiders in the fifth round of the NFL Draft, No. 149 overall.
Renfrow is the third Clemson player to be drafted by the Raiders in the 2019 NFL draft, joining Clelin Ferrell (first round) and Trayvon Mullen (second round).
Renfrow was the recipient of the Burlsworth Trophy, an award that goes to the nation’s most outstanding college football player who was a former walk on.
Renfrow starred as a quarterback at Socastee High and had an incredible Clemson career as a receiver.
He caught a pair of touchdowns in three national championship games against Alabama, including the game-winner Jan. 9, 2017. In 2019, Renfrow set the Clemson record for most consecutive starts by a wide receiver and most consecutive games with a catch.
