Tough Trevor: Moments after hard hit, Clemson QB Lawrence runs for 67-yard TD
The growth of Trevor Lawrence as a runner had caught the attention of ESPN broadcaster Kirk Herbstreit in the lead-up to the Fiesta Bowl.
Near the end of the first half, those skills helped get the Tigers right back in the thick of it, not long after a scary moment.
Lawrence broke up the middle, running an expert draw as both linebackers followed his running back. He shook the safety and then turned on the jets. The 67-yard gallop brought his team within two points of Ohio State.
Earlier in the game, it looked as if disaster had struck as his ankle got bent under him. He was down for a stretch, but then jogged off and seemed fine.
Targeting was called on the play, which extended the Tigers drive and ultimately ended on the first Clemson touchdown.
Ohio State led Clemson 16-14 at halftime.
Lawrence is already at 89 rushing yards, a career high.
