Clemson’s top cornerback makes NFL draft decision

Clemson cornerback A.J. Terrell has made his NFL decision.

The junior and first-team All-ACC selection will enter the 2020 NFL draft, he announced Friday night on Twitter. Terrell was a starter for Clemson at cornerback each of the past two seasons.

“It is with much gratitude and excitement that I announce my decision to declare for the NFL draft,” Terrell said as part of a statement on Twitter.

Terrell struggled in Monday’s national championship game against LSU but had a strong season overall, finishing with 34 tackles, two interceptions and three pass breakups.

He was an important piece of Clemson’s secondary in 2018 as well, recording a key pick-six as the Tigers upset Alabama in the national title game.

With Terrell’s departure, Clemson will be without three of its four starters in the secondary as safeties K’Von Wallace and Tanner Muse graduated. Clemson returns cornerback Derion Kendrick.
