Clemson already has No. 1 recruiting class for 2021. A look at the Tigers’ commits
Most teams are still putting the finishing touches on their 2020 recruiting class ahead of next Wednesday’s Signing Day, but Clemson already has an extremely strong start on its 2021 group.
The Tigers are likely done as far as scholarship prospects for 2020 after signing 24 recruits in December, allowing Dabo Swinney and the rest of Clemson’s staff to focus its attention on the next cycle.
Clemson landed commitments from four prospects over the weekend, including the No. 1 overall prospect for 2021 in Korey Foreman of Corona, California.
The Tigers currently have the No. 1 ranked recruiting class for 2021, ahead of Ohio State, Notre Dame, Texas and Florida. And the Tigers also have the No. 3 recruiting class for 2020, behind only Alabama and Georgia..
The fifth consecutive run to the College Football Playoff seems to be paying off for the Tigers on the recruiting trail, even after falling to Joe Burrow and LSU in the national championship game.
Here’s an early look at Clemson’s 2021 recruiting class:
Korey Foreman, DE
Five stars | 6-4, 265 | Corona, Calif.
The top-ranked player in the nation for the class of 2021, Foreman committed to the Tigers on Sunday. He is being recruited by defensive tackles coach Todd Bates. Foreman also holds offers from Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Ohio State and others.
Beaux Collins, WR
Four stars | 6-2.5, 195 | Bellflower, Calif.
A fellow California native, Collins also committed to the Tigers over the weekend. He was a teammate of Clemson class of 2020 signee quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei. The two will look to do damage at Clemson the way they did at St. John Bosco High.
Cade Denhoff, DE
Five stars | 6-4.5, 225 | Lakeland, Fla.
The No. 14 player in the state of Florida, Denhoff committed to Clemson on Sunday. He is being recruited by defensive ends coach Lemanski Hall and defensive coordinator Brent Venables.
Marcus Tate, OL
Four stars | 6-4.5, 318 | Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
A top-100 player nationally, Tate committed to Clemson in September. He is being recruited by Brent Venables and also holds offers from Alabama, Florida and others.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr., LB
Four stars | 6-0, 210 | Philadelphia, Penn.
The son of former Eagles star linebacker Jeremiah Trotter, Trotter Jr. is ranked as the No. 2 inside linebacker in the country.
Jake Briningstool, TE
Four stars | 6-6, 215 | Brentwood, Tenn.
The No. 2 tight end in the country, Briningstool is the highest rated tight end Clemson has landed in the Dabo Swinney era. He committed to the Tigers this past weekend.
Ryan Linthicum, OL
Four stars | 6-4, 275 | Damascus, Mary.
Linthicum is the top rated center in the country and holds offers from several premiere programs, including LSU, Florida State, Michigan and Ohio State.
Dacari Collins, WR
Four stars | 6-3.5, 200 | Atlanta, Ga.
Clemson has had plenty of success with big receivers, and with Collins already at 6-3 1/2, 200 pounds, he has a chance to continue that trend. The Atlanta native is rated as the No. 31 receiver in the country and the No. 15 player in the state of Georgia.
Phil Mafah, RB
Four stars | 6-1, 215 | Loganville, Ga.
Clemson signed a five-star running back for the class of 2020 in Demarkcus Bowman and landed one of the top running backs in the nation once again in Mafah. The two should provide a dynamic one-two punch for Clemson a few years down the road.
