Clemson star receiver Justyn Ross to have surgery in June
Clemson receiver Justyn Ross was limited during spring practice with “some stinger symptoms lingering,” Clemson coach Dabo Swinney announced in March.
Now, the Tigers leading receiver from 2019 is set to have surgery in June related to those stinger symptoms.
“Justyn is doing great but is going to have surgery in early June. Testing was delayed a bit as a function of recent health protocols,” a Clemson official said Thursday. “Coach may provide additional information down the road but I don’t have any additional specifics to offer at this point.”
Ross missed Clemson’s final two workouts of the spring — a practice on March 11 and a scrimmage on March 13.
The March 13 workout was Clemson’s final one of the spring as the final six spring practices were canceled due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The Phenix City, Alabama native had 66 catches for 865 yards and eight touchdowns last season. He was first on the team in receptions and second in yards.
Ross had 1,000 yards as a freshman and is expected to take an even more prominent role with Tee Higgins moving on to the NFL.
