Coveted receiver from Florida picks Clemson over Ohio State
A few months after Clemson beat Ohio State on the football field, the Tigers beat OSU away from it.
Receiver Troy Stellato committed to Clemson on Friday after narrowing his decision to a final two of the Tigers and Buckeyes in March.
Stellato announced his decision on Sports Illustrated. The four-star prospect held offers from top programs from around the country, including Alabama, LSU and Georgia.
“I kind of fell in love with everything that they preach about, coach (Dabo) Swinney and what he preaches and how he runs his program I feel like is top notch,” Stellato told Sports Illustrated. “I feel like there wasn’t really a program like it and they produce great wide receivers.”
A Florida native, Stellato is ranked as the No. 125 overall player in the country and the No. 22 receiver in the nation by the 247Sports Composite rankings.
Stellato gives Clemson 14 commits for the class of 2021. Clemson’s class is currently ranked No. 2 nationally. Tigers head coach Dabo Swinney has said Clemson plans to sign about 18 players for this year’s class.
“I just had a gut feeling that that’s where I wanted to be,” Stellato said. “I love everything about Clemson, love the atmosphere... I can’t wait to get started at Clemson.”
