Clemson loses one of its top commits in cornerback Jordan Hancock

Clemson had not suffered a non-academic decommit since Shaq Smith in August of 2015 before Korey Foreman decommitted from the Tigers in April. Now, Clemson has lost two commitments in four months.

Four-star cornerback Jordan Hancock decommitted from Clemson on Tuesday. 247Sports was the first to report the news.

Hancock is rated as the No. 76 overall player in the country and the No. 6 cornerback in the nation, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. He committed to the Tigers in March over offers from Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia and others.

Ohio State is now the favorite to land the Georgia native, according to the 247Sports Crystal Ball. As of Wednesday afternoon there were eight predictions of where Hancock will end up, and all eight have Hancock landing with the Buckeyes.

Hancock attends North Gwinnett High in Suwanee, Georgia and is teammates with linebacker Barrett Carter, who is committed to Clemson.

At one point the two were considered to be a package deal, but it remains to be seen if Carter will open up his recruitment as well.

Clemson has 13 commits for the class of 2021 after the loss of Hancock, and the Tigers’ class is currently ranked No. 8 nationally.

Clemson has one five-star commit in running back Will Shipley, as well as 11 four-star commits and one three-star.
