Clemson COVID-19 numbers trending in right direction as fall sports seasons draw near
Clemson athletics released its latest COVID-19 numbers on Friday, providing a formal update for the first time since July 10.
Clemson has had 60 positive cases in its athletics department dating back to June 1 when athletes returned to campus.
The 60 positive cases is an increase from the 53 positive tests Clemson announced as of July 10. Clemson has had only one football student-athlete test positive since July 10.
There were 461 Clemson student-athletes and staff members screened this past week, with five positive results. There were no positive results among fall-sport student-athletes, including football.

Athletes from all sports are currently on campus, according to a Clemson spokesperson.
Clemson’s fall sport programs have begun weekly screening protocols, as outlined by the ACC and NCAA recommendations.
The university started classes this week, with all classes online. Clemson will start welcoming back all students on Sept. 11. All students are expected to be moved in by Sept. 18, with in-person classes set to begin Sept. 21.
Clemson is set to open the season Sept. 12 at Wake Forest. It was announced this week that the Tigers will host The Citadel on Sept. 19 in their home opener.
