College GameDay to broadcast from Clemson-Wake Forest, with a twist due to COVID-19
ESPN’s College GameDay will be in Winston-Salem, North Carolina for Clemson’s season opener against Wake Forest next Saturday, but the show will have a much different look.
Just as there will be no fans allowed to attend the game, there will also be no fans allowed at the show due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit and the rest of the crew will be set up on the 50-yard line of Truist Field. The show will take place from 9 a.m. to noon. This will be College GameDay’s first trip to Wake Forest.
“We are thrilled to be hosting College GameDay for the first time in Wake Forest Football history,” Demon Deacons coach Dave Clawson said in a release. “Our players have done all the right things since we returned to campus in mid-June and having our brand showcased on these national platforms is a reward for their discipline and for the recent accomplishments of the program.”
Even though fans will not be allowed to attend the show they can still participate.
ESPN’s setup will be positioned within Truist Field to allow for cutouts and homemade submitted signs.
There will also be a Truist Drive-In watch party for Wake Forest fans to watch the show.
The Clemson-Wake Forest game will take place at 7:30 p.m. on ABC, with Clemson’s home opener against The Citadel set for the following week at 4 p.m. on the ACC Network.
