Swinney family sends Jeff Scott a special treat for first game as USF head coach

Dabo Swinney said last month that he has spoken with Jeff Scott “many, many, many times” to try to help the new USF head coach as he enters his first season.

Now that Scott’s first game is here, Swinney and his wife Kathleen went a step further by sending a cake wishing Scott good luck.

Scott posted a picture of the cake, with his daughter Savannah in front of it, Friday afternoon on Twitter. USF will face The Citadel on Saturday at 7 p.m.

“I get asked a lot about Coach Swinney and what makes he and his wife (Kathleen) so special. It is because they are always thinking of others and looking for ways to serve others,” Scott said. “Sara [Scott’s wife] just sent me this picture of the USF cake that Coach Swinney and Mrs Kath had delivered today.”

The cake is decorated green and yellow and reads “Go Bulls!”

Scott accepted the South Florida head coaching job in December after spending the previous 12 years on staff at Clemson.

The former Tigers player served as the wide receivers coach at Clemson from 2008-14 and the co-offensive coordinator for the Tigers from 2015-2019.
