Clemson defensive tackle to miss extended period of time with injury
Clemson defensive tackle Ruke Orhorhoro will be out for the next few months after being injured in the season opener against Wake Forest.
Swinney said Orhorhoro suffered a meniscus injury against the Demon Deacons and will not be back until December.
The sophomore was listed as the backup to Tyler Davis entering the season. He was credited with a quarterback pressure against Wake Forest.
“Once they got in there they had to repair it, so he’s going to be out a little longer than we hoped,” Swinney said of Orhorhoro. “We think he’ll be back in December. ... We play Virginia Tech, and if we’re fortunate enough to get to the (ACC) championship game we hope to have him back and ready by then and any postseason type play.”
Orhorhoro played in 10 games last season, recording five tackles, including 1.5 for loss. He signed with Clemson as a three-star prospect for the class of 2019.
Orhorhoro, who is originally from Nigeria, did not play his first football game until the fall of 2017.
“He’s going to be a good one, man. He really is. We were hoping it was not going to be something they were going to have to repair,” Swinney said.
