Pair of Clemson defenders, including former All-ACC performer, in transfer portal

A pair of Clemson defensive linemen entered the transfer portal on Monday.

Senior Nyles Pinckney and junior Jordan Williams are planning to transfer, according to a source. Williams started three games in 2020, while Pinckney started two. Pinckney was named third-team All-ACC in 2019. He appeared in every game this past season, recording 22 tackles, including three tackles for loss.

Williams had eight tackles and one tackle for loss while appearing in 11 games in 2020.

Pinckney, a South Carolina native who attended Whale Branch High, was ranked as a four-star recruit coming out of high school. He appeared in 55 games over the past four years.

Williams was also rated as a four-star recruit after attending Frank W. Cox High in Virginia.

Pinckney and Williams were in reserve roles this past season when sophomore Tyler Davis and freshman Bryan Bresee were healthy. Davis, Bresee, Ruke Orhorhoro, Darnell Jefferies and others will be counted on to make plays at defensive tackle in 2021 with Pinckney and Williams gone.
