‘SH1P HAPPENS.’ Clemson tailback Will Shipley embraces pun for good cause

Will Shipley’s latest name-image-likeness partnership packs on the puns.

Clemson football’s freshman running back announced a “SH1P HAPPENS” T-shirt collaboration with Tigertown Graphics in a tweet Thursday.

The merchandise, available at the Clemson Tigertown Graphics store or online, will donate a portion of all sales to Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, near Shipley’s hometown of Weddington, North Carolina.

“Proud to announce my collaboration with @TTGrafx for the new SH1P HAPPENS collection! Available in store or online! A portion of all sales goes to benefit Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, NC! Go get you one… or a couple!!” Shipley tweeted.

A comment from Clemson head football coach Dabo Swinney earlier this month may have played a part in the new merchandise idea. Swinney mentioned wanting to get T-shirts with the “ship happens” phrase during a Tiger Calls radio show on Nov. 1.

Shipley is Clemson’s leading rusher of 2021, totaling 438 yards on 93 carries through the Tigers’ first nine games. He sustained a hit late in the second quarter of last week’s game against Louisville that caused Cardinals linebacker Jack Fagot to be ejected for targeting. Shipley returned in the third quarter.

Clemson (6-3, 5-2 ACC) hosts UConn (1-8) this Saturday at noon. The game will be televised by ACC Network.
