Class of 2022 IMG Academy four-star recruit decommits from Clemson
Clemson lost IMG Academy four-star cornerback Daylen Everette on Thursday, bringing the total of decommits for the week to three.
All of them came from IMG Academy after Everette’s teammates, Keon Sabb and Jihaad Campbell, re-opened their recruitment on Monday and Thursday, respectively. That leaves Clemson with 12 commits after wide receiver Antonio Williams announced his decision to join the program on Thursday night.
The decommitment of the three defensive players comes in the days following Tigers defensive coordinator Brent Venables taking his first-ever head coaching job at Oklahoma. Venables had also visited the three recruits in Florida last week.
Per 247Sports, Everette is the nation’s third-best cornerback and ranked No. 26 overall in the Class of 2022. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound corner also had offers from Georgia, North Carolina and Alabama.
Despite losing Everette, Campbell and Sabb, Clemson still has a few defensive commits left. Safeties Wade Woodaz and Sherrod Covil as well as cornerback Toriano Pride all reaffirmed their commitments to Clemson. On Thursday, members of the Tigers’ coaching staff, including head coach Dabo Swinney, conducted an in-home visit with Covil in Virginia.
