Star Clemson defender Andrew Booth makes NFL plans official
Andrew Booth made his future choice official Sunday night.
The Clemson junior defensive back announced he would be declaring for the NFL Draft and giving up his final year of eligibility for the Tigers.
“To everyone at Clemson University and in the Clemson community, it has been a pleasure to play the game I love in front of the best fans in college football Y’all make Death Valley I am honored to be a Clemson Tiger Forever!” Booth wrote in his post on social media.
Booth was a five-star prospect coming out of Archer High in Lawrence, Ga. He was the No. 2 cornerback and 19th-best prospect overall by 247Sports Composite in the Class of 2019.
In three seasons at Clemson, Booth had 68 tackles, five interceptions and nine passes defensed. This year, he had 37 tackles and three interceptions.
Booth is projected to be a first-round draft pick by most mock drafts. CBS Sports’ latest mock draft has him going No. 19 to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Trevor Sikkema of Pro Football Focus projected Booth to go to the Minnesota Vikings with the No. 11 pick. ESPN’s Todd McShay has Booth as the 23rd best player in the draft.
“I like Booth’s game a lot,” McShay said in his review of Booth. “He does a nice job locating the ball while running in phase with receivers, and he is at his best in press coverage. Booth has a smooth back pedal and quick feet, but he does overreact at times to a receiver’s first move. The ball skills are top notch, as he had three interceptions and five passes broken up in 11 games this season.”
