Former Boston College guard Brevin Galloway chooses Clemson over USC
The hometown kid is back.
Brevin Galloway committed to Clemson on Tuesday evening. The brother of former Tigers tight end Braden Galloway, the Seneca High School graduate had narrowed down his schools to Clemson and rival South Carolina before choosing the Tigers’ program.
Adding another guard is crucial for Tigers head coach Brad Brownell, who lost two of its most experienced guards in Al-Amir Dawes and Nick Honor to the transfer portal. It looked like Clemson had added Jaelin Llewellyn, but the former Princeton guard decommitted on April 19, six days after he gave his verbal pledge.
Galloway, who attended T.L. Hanna High School in Anderson before graduating from Seneca, began his college career at the College of Charleston in the fall of 2016. There, he spent five years under head coach Earl Grant and started 62 of 64 games played between his redshirt sophomore and junior seasons. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound guard started four games as a redshirt senior before suffering an ACL tear against SC State on Dec. 11, 2020.
Galloway then followed Grant to Boston College this past season and started five games in 25 played. He averaged 8.3 points, 1.5 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.1 steals during his graduate year.
On Jan. 15, Galloway tied his season-high of 18 points in front of his hometown and hit the go-ahead, game-winning 3-pointer with 26 seconds on the clock to lead the Eagles over Clemson, 70-68.
