Tigers clinch ACC championship game spot
Clemson got some good news before kickoff: with Pittsburgh beating Syracuse 19-9 on Saturday afternoon, the Tigers have clinched the ACC Atlantic Division’s spot in the conference championship game in Charlotte on Saturday, Dec. 3.
With the Orange’s loss, every team in the Atlantic Division has at least two ACC losses. Clemson, meanwhile, is 8-0 and 6-0 in conference play.
The Tigers’ final two ACC games are against Louisville next weekend and Miami the following week. Had Syracuse beaten Pittsburgh, Clemson would’ve needed a win against either the Cardinals or the Hurricanes to clinch the Atlantic Division’s title game spot. This is Clemson’s seventh ACC Atlantic title in eight years.
In the ACC’s final year operating under a divisional structure for championship game qualification, Clemson has a 98% chance of facing Coastal Division favorite UNC (8-1). The game will be played at Bank of America Stadium, home of the Carolina Panthers.

Thomas had two sacks and a forced fumble in his 2022 debut against Boston College and also played in Clemson’s two most recent games against Florida State and Syracuse. The Tigers were off last week.
Thomas, a former five-star recruit, is in his fifth season at Clemson.
