A former Clemson quarterback is back in the transfer portal.

According to a Thursday report from 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz, former Tigers quarterback DJ Uiagalelei, who was the starter this season at Oregon State, intends to enter the transfer portal for a second time in two seasons.

Uiagalelei later confirmed the news on his social media accounts.

Uiagalelei transferred from Clemson to Oregon State last offseason after playing three seasons with the Tigers and losing the starting job to Cade Klubnik late in the 2022 season. He led the Beavers to an 8-4 record in 2023.

Oregon State just lost its coach, Jonathan Smith, to Michigan State. The Beavers chose an internal hire to replace Smith, promoting defensive coordinator Trent Bray to head coach on Tuesday.

The 247Sports report indicated entering the 2024 NFL Draft is also an option for Uiagalelei, a former five-star recruit from the Los Angeles area.

Uiagalelei’s reported departure could even affect the Tigers, as Clemson is being widely projected to play either Oregon State or Southern Cal in the Dec. 27 Holiday Bowl in San Diego. Clemson will learn its bowl destination Sunday, the day after conference championship games are completed.
