Kickoff time, TV channel set for Clemson vs. Louisville football game
The Clemson football team has received a kickoff time and TV channel for its home game against Louisville next weekend.
And to the delight of many fans, it’ll be under the lights.
The ACC has announced that the No. 9 Tigers and Cardinals will kick off at 7:30 p.m. next Saturday, Nov. 2 from Memorial Stadium in Clemson.
ESPN will broadcast the game.
This will be Clemson’s third home night game in five outings so far. The Tigers also hosted App State (8 p.m.) and Stanford (7:30 p.m.) at night in September, while they hosted NC State and Virginia at noon.
The conference and its television partner, ESPN, made the unusual decision of exercising a six-day hold of all six of the ACC’s Week 10 games and didn’t determine kick times and TV channels until after Week 9 action ended late this Saturday.
Clemson (6-1, 5-0 ACC) beat Virginia 48-31 last weekend to stay perfect in conference play and had its second of two scheduled off weeks this Saturday.
Louisville (5-3, 3-2 ACC) wasn’t idle. The Cardinals visited Boston College on Friday night and overcame a 20-0 first half deficit, roaring back for a 31-27 road win.
After surviving that scare, UL continues to shape up as one of the tougher opponents on Clemson’s 2024 schedule (which hasn’t included a ranked opponent at time of kickoff since No. 1 Georgia in the opener).
The Cardinals made their first ever ACC championship game appearance last year under coach Jeff Brohm, and all three of their losses this season have come by a touchdown to ranked teams.
The Cardinals have dropped games against current No. 12 Notre Dame, No. 22 SMU and No. 6 Miami two weeks ago (in a game that was tied 38-38 early in the fourth).
And veteran quarterback Tyler Shough, who previously played at Oregon and Texas Tech, has 300-plus passing yards in three of his last four outings, including 332 in Louisville’s comeback win at BC on Friday.
Clemson is 8-0 all-time against Louisville, with all eight of those wins coming under coach Dabo Swinney and since UL moved from the Big East to the ACC ahead of the 2014 season. Most recently, the Tigers won 31-16 in Clemson in 2022.
