Clemson ranks in top 15 of preseason coaches poll
Clemson football will enter the season ranked in the top 15 for the 2015 season.
On Thursday, the preseason Amway Coaches Poll was released with Ohio State, TCU, Alabama, Baylor and Oregon topping the poll. Michigan State, Auburn, Florida State, UGA and Southern Cal rounded out the top 10.
Clemson, who finished its 2014 season 10-3 with a bowl win over Oklahoma, sits just outside at No. 12 behind Notre Dame.
The Tigers were one of three ACC teams in the top 25, with Georgia Tech being the third at No. 17.
Clemson will play three teams (GT, ND and FSU) currently in the top 25 this season, all of them at home.
The poll is based on the voting by 64 head coaches at Bowl Subdivision schools. Included in the voting are Clemson’s Dabo Swinney as well as South Carolina’s Steve Spurrier. Each coach submits a top 25 with a first-place vote worth 25 points, a second place 24 and so on down to one poin for 25th.
The Associated Press poll will be released on Aug. 23.
