A second Clemson wide receiver is leaving for the portal.

Redshirt freshman Tigers receiver Noble Johnson plans to enter the transfer portal, The State has confirmed. The news was first reported earlier Monday by 247Sports. The portal officially opened Monday and players can enter through Dec. 28.

Johnson has appeared in 13 games for the Tigers over the past two seasons. The former four-star recruit redshirted while playing in four games in 2023, and he played in nine games in 2024. Johnson had three catches for 16 yards this year.

He didn’t start a game for the Tigers and was not part of the receiver rotation. Johnson did have a role on various special teams units and was usually on Clemson’s travel roster and/or dress list for non-home games.

He appeared in Saturday’s ACC title game vs. SMU on special teams.

Johnson, 19, is a native of Rockwall, Texas and was the No. 383 nationally coming out of high school in 2023. He is the third Clemson player to announce their intentions to enter the portal after WR Troy Stellato and DB Sherrod Covil Jr. did so last week.

The second-year player ran into off-field trouble in February when he was arrested on a reckless driving charge for his involvement in a Feb. 14 car accident on campus that resulted in all three individuals involved going to the hospital.

Johnson was traveling at approximately 71 mph in a 35 mph zone at an intersection near Clemson’s campus early on the morning of Feb. 14 before hitting another car that had failed to yield while making a left turn, The State reported.

He faced internal discipline because of the incident and wasn’t able to participate in 2024 spring practice because of his injuries stemming from the crash.

As the roster currently stands, Johnson’s departure drops Clemson to eight scholarship receivers returning for the 2025 season. The Tigers generally have closer to 10 receivers on scholarship, and coach Dabo Swinney said last week the team was already thinking about taking another 2025 WR recruit.
