Top-ranked IMG Academy linebacker decommits from Clemson
Clemson’s 2016 has one less commitment with Rashuan Smith out of IMG Academy in Florida backing off his agreement with the Tigers.
Smith, the No. 1 rated inside linebacker by 247Sports, posted to Twitter that he is going to re-open his recruiting process.
“With all due respect to Coach Swinney, Coach Venables and the entire Clemson staff and community, at this time this is just what’s best for me and my recruiting down the line,” he said.
— Humble & Hungry 〽️ (@Nextlevel_shaq) August 6, 2015Clemson’s head coach Dabo Swinney is known to have a policy that states that as soon as a player commits to the program, they are not allowed to take official visits to other schools.
Players committed to Clemson are, however, allowed to take unofficial visits to other schools as Tavien Feaster visited Tennessee at the end of July.
Smith did say that he would still take an official visit to Clemson this fall, but the date hasn’t been decided yet.
He also plans to visit Miami, LSU and Auburn officially. Maryland could become a factor.
