Clemson basketball lands transfer portal commitment from talented big man
Clemson basketball has landed its first transfer portal commitment.
Former Nevada all-conference forward Nick Davidson has committed to the Tigers, his agent told Joe Tipton of On3 Sports on Wednesday night.
Davidson (6-foot-10, 238 pounds) averaged 15.8 points per game, 6.5 rebounds per game and 2.8 assists per game this season while shooting 50% from the field.
Clemson beat out some notable power conference programs to land the 2025 All-Mountain West Second Team selection. Davidson’s other top finalists after entering the portal were Virginia, Washington, Texas and Notre Dame, per On3.
He projects as an immediate starter in Clemson’s frontcourt.
Davidson, a redshirt junior last year, has one year of eligibility remaining.
He started all 33 games for Nevada last season and averaged career highs across the board. That included a 37.1% clip on 3-pointers, while averaging 1.4 makes and 3.8 attempts from deep per game. Davidson shot 69.9% on free throws.
247Sports ranked Davidson as the No. 2 available center in the transfer portal and No. 27 overall prospect. On3 Sports had him as the No. 28 overall portal recruit.
The Tigers will continue to use the portal. Between players whose eligibility expired and players who entered the portal, Clemson is losing 10 of the 13 scholarship players on last year’s team, including each of its top five leading scorers. With Davidson committing, the team is still only at seven players for next season.
