Another transfer portal player has committed to Clemson basketball.

Former Utah forward Jake Wahlin committed to the Tigers on Monday, he told On3 Sports. He’d been on campus for a visit over the weekend.

Wahlin (6-foot-10, 212 pounds) is a lanky wing/forward who averaged 6.3 points and 4.9 rebounds per game as a sophomore for the Utes and emerged as a starter late in the year. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining with the Tigers.

He is Clemson’s fifth portal commit of the offseason as the Tigers and coach Brad Brownell execute a nearly 100% roster rebuild heading into 2025-26.

Clemson’s roster dipped down to just six total players (three returners, three incoming freshmen) and one player with game experience after the Tigers lost five scholarship players to graduation and another five left via the portal.

Now, Brownell’s team is up to 11 scholarship players. Wahlin is Clemson’s fifth transfer, joining F Nick Davidson (Nevada), F Carter Welling (Utah Valley), F RJ Godfrey (Georgia) and G Efrem “Butta” Johnson (UAB).

The Tigers, who had 13 scholarship players on the roster last year, could still be in the market for another guard as there’s minimal depth behind returning senior starter Dillon Hunter and Johnson.

Wahlin, a former three-star recruit, appeared in 20 games as a true freshman and started zero. He played just 5.7 minutes per game and scored 14 points all season.

As a sophomore, though, he quickly developed into a serviceable player. Wahlin broke in as a full-time starter in January and shot 46.7% from the field and 35.1% on 3-pointers. Utah was 16-17 and 8-12 in conference play this season.
