Marquise Henderson finds new college team after being dismissed from Clemson
Former Clemson football player Marquise Henderson has found a new college to call home.
Henderson announced on social media Wednesday that he’s committed to play football at Liberty. The decision comes less than a week after he was dismissed from the Clemson football program.
“Next chapter… !!” Henderson said in a social media post along with a graphic of him in a Liberty uniform.
Henderson was dismissed from Clemson on June 19. He never appeared in a game with Dabo Swinney’s program and was only at Clemson for about five months. The school declined to elaborate on the specifics of why Henderson was dismissed.
“Clemson has made the decision to dismiss Marquise Henderson from its program,” a team spokesman told The State. “We wish him the best as he moves forward.”
Henderson announced the next day (June 20) he had entered the transfer portal. A quick five days later he found his next team in Liberty.
An in-state product, Henderson came out of Belton-Honea Path as one of the top players in the state in his recruiting class. He was ranked as the No. 4 player in the state of South Carolina and the No. 182 recruit nationally per the 247Sports Composite. Henderson played several positions in high school and set BHP’s all-time rushing record. He totaled just under 8,000 career all-purpose yards in four seasons.
Henderson signed with Clemson as an “athlete” but had been practicing with the offense. The commitment graphic Henderson posted Wednesday listed him as a running back with the Flames.
