Butler has Clemson in top six, could be No. 1

Defensive back Tony Butler of Lakewood, Ohio has a final six of Clemson, Michigan, Arizona State, Rutgers, West Virginia and Minnesota. He's not sure when he'll make his decision but he senses he getting closer by the day.

"I kind of have in mind where I want to go but I want to take other visits to make sure I'm making the right decision," Butler said adding that he hopes to finalize things by late October.

"There is a leader but I'm not going to release it. I have visited No. 1 but I haven't visited No. 2." Of his top six, Butler has visited Clemson, Michigan and West Virginia.

He is scheduling an official visit with Arizona State for September and he's in conversations with Clemson recruiter Brent Venables.

"Me and Coach V[enables] talk a lot on Twitter," he said. "We talk about schemes and what they have new. We have a great relationship. They're definitely in my top list, top of my list."

As he thinks about his decision, Butler said he'll weigh a number of factors in comparing one school against another.

"Playing time, me being comfortable and my education," Butler said. "I'm going to analyze all of that over the next week and break everything down with my mom also and go into the season fresh minded. Once I feel like I'm ready to make my decision, I'll go back to the drawing board and look at what I've analyzed and that's what I'll make mty decision off of."

Butler said he's hearing from all six schools frequently but feels Rutgers and Minnesota have been making the strongest push.

"They see the talent that I have and they want a defensive back who can play corner and safety. They don't have that guy yet."
