Clemson football is rolling with a unique jersey combo vs. Georgia Tech.

The Tigers will be wearing purple jerseys over orange helmets and white pants for Saturday’s road game at GT, The State has confirmed. It’s the first time Clemson has worn the jersey combination since September 2008 vs. Maryland.

The purple jersey look hasn’t been worn on the road since 2003 vs. Georgia Tech. Clemson generally wears white jerseys on the road, but that wasn’t possible Saturday since GT is wearing white for its annual home “Whiteout” game.

Clemson hinted at the uniform combo in various social media posts before confirming the news Saturday, writing on X: “Good guys wear...purple.”

Clemson usually wears orange jerseys at home. The team has traditionally only worn purple jerseys for its designated Military Appreciation Day game in November, a nod to the Purple Heart award.

The orange helmet, purple jersey, white pants uniform combo is a fan favorite. Its return after 17 years was widely celebrated on social media Friday and Saturday.

No. 12 Clemson (1-1) kicks off against Georgia Tech (2-0) at noon from Bobby Dodd Stadium in Atlanta (ESPN). The Tigers are favored by 2.5 points in their ACC and road opener.
