Clemson football player suffers season-ending injury while celebrating win
A promising Clemson football true freshman will miss the rest of the season after he was injured while celebrating Friday night’s road win at Louisville.
Coach Dabo Swinney announced Sunday that true freshman offensive lineman Brayden Jacobs has a foot injury and will miss the rest of the 2025 season for the Tigers. Clemson (5-5) ends the regular season with games vs. Furman (home) and South Carolina (away) and will likely play in a bowl game, too.
Swinney said on his weekly Sunday teleconference that Jacobs jumped in the air while running on the field immediately after Friday’s 20-19 win at No. 20 Louisville and “just kind of came down on his foot wrong.”
“That was kind of crazy,” Swinney said of Jacobs’ injury. “I think he just jumped up in jubilation or something, and kind of came down awkward. I didn’t really see it, but that’s what he said. Unfortunately, it’s just enough of an injury that’s going to put him out for the remainder of the season.”
Jacobs was spotted leaving Clemson’s locker room with a boot on his left foot after Friday’s win. Another Clemson starting offensive lineman, Walker Parks, was also injured vs. UL and left the locker room on crutches and with a boot on his right foot.
Swinney said Sunday that Parks had suffered an ankle injury and would be out for the season. Parks is a sixth-year senior and had been starting at right guard.
Jacobs, a former top 100 recruit, had recently emerged as a starter for Clemson, and Swinney had called him one of the team’s best five offensive linemen. Jacobs made his third-straight start at left guard vs. Louisville and has also played at left tackle when usual starter Tristan Leigh has been injured.
Jacobs (6-7, 355) is also the son of former NFL running back Brandon Jacobs.
Swinney said he expects Jacobs to be available for 2026 spring practice.
