Top storylines for the game

  • Clemson has a unique channel designation this week. The Tigers are playing on The CW — the ACC’s newest (and lowest tier) football TV broadcasting partner — for the third time in the last three years. The simplest way to find The CW’s channel in your area is to plug in your ZIP code to its online “channel finder.” You cannot live-stream the game for free on The CW’s website or app — much like live games on ESPN or ACC Network, you must have a cable or streaming TV subscription (DirecTV, Spectrum, YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, etc.).
  • Since mandatory ACC availability reports only apply to conference games, Clemson’s injury situation will get a little blurrier against Furman and South Carolina. The Tigers have lost some notable players to season-ending injuries, but among players who suited up vs. Louisville, they appear mostly healthy. Quarterback Cade Klubnik (thigh contusion) remains limited in his mobility but is “way better than he was two weeks ago,” Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said Wednesday. The only key Clemson player who missed the UL game was Stephiylan Green, a co-starter at defensive tackle. Swinney said Green has been at practice every day this week and will be “available” vs. Furman on Saturday.
  • After a big road win at No. 20 Louisville last Friday — Clemson’s first against an FBS team with a winning record at time of kickoff in 2025 — the 5-5 Tigers are in a great spot to clinch bowl eligibility. All they have to do is beat Furman, an FCS team they’ve beaten 32 times in a row dating back to 1936. Clemson is also 39-0 against FCS teams since 1978, has an average margin of victory of 35.6 points in those games and has won 38 of 39 games by double digits. Clemson’s current 20-year bowl streak is the fourth-longest active streak in the country.
  • It’ll be interesting to see how a retooled Clemson offensive line fares after starting left guard Brayden Jacobs and starting right guard Walker Parks both went down with season-ending injuries against Louisville. They’ll be replaced by Collin Sadler and Harris Sewell, respectively. Both of those players have starting experience but have been hampered by injuries and performance. Most of Sadler’s starts came because Elyjah Thurmon wasn’t healthy, then he lost his spot to Jacobs (a true freshman). Sewell also found himself on the bench in favor of a healthy Parks after a few bad games. The Furman game gives Clemson a chance to gather as much information as possible on who should start in next week’s USC game.

Clemson vs. Furman players to watch

Clemson QB Chris Denson: Fans are excited to see the true freshman speedster, who may get a series or two behind Klubnik and Christopher Vizzina if all goes as planned and the Furman game is a blowout.

Clemson LB Jeremiah Alexander: The Alabama transfer has carved out a nice role as a rotational linebacker and is building toward a potential 2026 starting role.

Furman QB Trey Hedden: He’s thrown for 2,788 yards (172 shy of Furman’s single-season record) but has struggled with turnovers, boasting a 16:12 TD-INT ratio.

Furman DE Joshua Stoneking: Stoneking will likely be playing in the FBS next season, as he leads the entire FCS in tackles for loss (20.0) and sacks (13.5).
