Clemson Tigers land commitment from talented in-state defensive lineman

Clemson landed one of the top prospects in the state Saturday.

South Pointe defensive lineman Seth Tillman committed to Dabo Swinney and the Tigers. He made his choice at a ceremony at his school.

Tillman picked the Tigers over Georgia, Michigan and South Carolina. He took official visits to all four schools, with Clemson getting the final one last month.

“Clemson, Coach Dabo (Swinney) and Coach (Nick) Eason, thank you for giving me an opportunity to attend camps since the fourth grade until my junior year in high school,” Tillman said.

Tillman thanked all four schools individually before his announcement and mentioned Gamecocks coach Shane Beamer and defensive line coach Travian Robertson when talking about USC.

Tillman is the 25th commitment for Clemson in the Class of 2027 and third in-state prospect, joining Dutch Fork’s Jaden Wuerth and Daniel’s Christian Chancellor. Wuerth also is a defensive end.

Tillman’s announcement comes after his father Reginald Tillman, 62, died on Tuesday. He and his mother both spoke of the impact that Reginald had on his life.

His father’s voice was heard during video with lights dimmed made he before his announcement. When the lights came back on, Tillman revealed that Tigers were his choice.

“I want to thank my dad, big Reg, for all of the sacrifices for me to be here,” Seth said. “He took me to practice, telling me to play hard … and gave me the training. I love you, dad. Your name will be forever sketched in my heart. Thank you to my mom and my sister, who were my personal cheerleaders.”

247Sports and Rivals both have Tillman ranked as a four-star prospect and either the No. 2- or No. 3- ranked player in South Carolina in the Class of 2027. The 6-foot-4, 280-pounder has been a force for the Stallion defense and helped them to the Class 4A state championship last year.

As a junior, Tillman had 61 tackles (27 for loss) and 8.5 sacks.
