Clemson QB Tajh Boyd signed by CFL team
Former Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd has been signed by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The team placed him on the practice roster after acquiring his negotiation rights from the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in exchange for a conditional draft pick in 2017.
Boyd left Clemson with school records for passing yards (11,904) and passing touchdowns (107) and the ACC record for touchdowns thrown in a season (36). Boyd was named ACC Player of the Year in 2012 and MVP of the Chick-fil-A Bowl.
He has been on the roster for the New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers in the NFL and also played one season in the pro minor-league FXFL.
The Bombers have been decimated with injuries at quarterback this season with Robert Marve and Drew Willy on the six-game injured list. The team also acquired Matt Nichols from the Eskimos. Brian Brohm remains on the depth chart.
