Clemson stays at No. 1 in CFP rankings
An inconsistent afternoon in Columbia couldn’t slow Clemson down.
The Tigers retained their spot as the top team in the land in the second-to-last edition of the College Football Playoff rankings. Alabama (No. 2), Oklahoma (No. 3) and Iowa (No. 4) rounded out the top four, with Michigan State at five, still controlling its chance to get in.
The Tigers topped South Carolina 37-32 in a game that wasn’t quite that close.
North Carolina, Clemson’s opponent in the ACC title game, moved up to No. 10 from 14 after knocking of N.C. State with an early offensive blitz.
