Six Clemson players named to All-American teams
A record six Clemson football players have been named to various first, second or third-team All-America squads. The previous record for selections to All-America first, second or third teams was five set by Clemson’s 1981 National Championship team.
Quarterback Deshaun Watson, defensive end Shaq Lawson, safety Jayron Kearse, tight end Jordan Leggett, cornerback Mackensie Alexander and kicker Greg Huegel all made at least one All-America team.
Watson made the Associate Press first team and became only the second Clemson passer to make a team after Tajh Boyd. Lawson made the AP first team, while Kearse earned a first-team nod from ESPN.
MacKensie Alexander got a third-team spot from the AP.
