Diondre Overton closing in on choice between Clemson, N.C. State
As much as he would like to have a peaceful holiday season, wide receiver Diondre Overton of Greensboro, N.C., has accepted his plight for the next nine days leading up to his announcement Jan. 3 during the Semper-Fi All American Game in Carson, Ca.
He knows the phone is going to ring and on the other end will be one of his recruiters from Clemson or one from N.C. State. He is down to those two schools as he works toward a decision he has not yet made.
"I talked to Clemson and N.C. State tonight," Overton said Wednesday night. "Both of them are telling me to evaluate as best you can and pick the one that's best for you. It's hard to decide. Clemson, just being down there, the whole campus. Playing wise, Clemson can develop me as a wide receiver. But N.C. State also has an advantage in playing time. And the in-state thing pulls on me a little bit. I'm talking it over with my parents. I'm going to pray about it and pick the right school for me."
And what will be the deciding factor?
"Just a gut feeling," Overton said. "Both are recruiting me pretty hard. No one wants me more than the others."
Overton leaves Dec. 29 for California.
