Beer, Wilson lift Tigers

Seth Beer and Weston Wilson both belted two-run homers and Clate Schmidt struck out 11 over seven innings as Clemson defeated Boston College 6-2 at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Friday night.

The Eagles (12-4, 2-2 ACC) hit two solo home runs in the top of the third inning to tie the game at 2-2, but Beer blasted a two-run homer in the bottom of the third inning to extend his hitting streak to 15 games. Beer’s eighth homer of the year was followed by Wilson’s two-run homer in the fifth inning, his second home run of the season for Clemson (14-3, 3-1).

Schmidt (4-0) earned the win, allowing just six hits, two runs in seven innings. Boston College’s Mike King suffered the loss, giving up six runs on eight hits in five innings.

The series continues Saturday at 4 p.m.
